Some information about the artists:
Bio Lizanne Richards
A worldly soul with an unusual childhood, Lizanne Richards grew up with missionary parents on the edge of the Sahara in Niger, Africa. Lizanne fondly recalls joining local women at church to help sing gospel songs and play traditional clay drum rhythms as accompaniment. Her bluesy rhythmic alt-folk songs sparkle, and are delivered with intensity and soul.
Part Feist, part Gillian Welch, part Portishead, Lizanne inhabits complex yet somehow spacious liminalities of both style and emotion. Her harmonies, for example, clearly scale the walls of conventional folk cadence, yet there is more than a hint here of Nordic discordance. Most captivating about the listening experience is the distinctiveness and quality of the songs themselves.
Bio Sage Roadknight
An eccentric and enchanting singer/songwriter, Sage Roadknight is fast becoming known for her ‘Future Folk’ style of music. Her work has been received incredibly well, being shortlisted by the Australian Folk Alliance for the youth folk artist of the year award. Alongside beloved Australian music icons, Sage also became a finalist for the inaugural Environmental Music Prize at just 16 years old. In 2023 her song Trust the Dead was featured at the Melbourne Museum as a part of VCE Season of Excellence.
Recently releasing her debut album LIVING THING, Sage’s stories have been likened to premonitions. They often take place in hereafter landscapes, creating a highly visual, engaging and curious approach to the narrative. Sage is fearlessly herself, her music allows vulnerability and insight to deliver powerful messages that focus largely on environmental and existential issues.
Come along and get immersed in the world that Sage creates through her stories and sound.
Bio Juliarna Clark
Juliarna is an amazing jazz singer and cabaret performer. She has worked with well-known jazz musicians across USA, Europe and Australia, performing her own original music as well-known jazz classics at numerous jazz venues, clubs and festivals.
Juliarna is a funny, beautiful and talented entertainer… so don’t miss what will be great night of swinging jazz!
Bio Mariah McCarthy
Mariah McCarthy is an enchanting and honest folk singer-songwriter, whose captivating story-telling and serene voice captures every ear in the room.
Hailing from small town Heathcote and a darling of the thriving Bendigo music scene, Folk artist Mariah McCarthy is one of Central Victoria’s most prized possessions.
With delicately woven songs rich in storytelling, Mariah captivates her audiences through honest and affecting tales that hang around in your head long after listening.
Mariah broaches themes of love, loss, betrayal and tragedy with authenticity, an often haunting melancholy but always a glimmer of precious hope.
